Do not be tempted to swim in the Clutha River itself. It is very fast flowing unlike most other rivers and you can easily be deceived and drowned. Recent example
Pinders Pond is a great place to picnic or try a spot of trout fishing.
This reserve is directly across the river from us (about 5-10 minutes drive).
